The following work is scheduled for 07-15-21 to 07-31-21:
Above average rain fall continues to present challenges to the construction schedule. However, extended work hours in the afternoon and even some Saturday work has mitigated the impact of heavy rains. Budgeted allowances for cleaning and dewatering have been utilized to minimize the cost impact.
As was the case earlier in July, multiple crews continue to work in parallel:
- The waterproofing contractor has installed a combination of waterproof board and drainage board around the lower half of the foundation walls, down to the footings. The plumbing contractor has installed a drainage system connected to the city storm sewer. This combination of work has allowed the excavation contractor to begin the process of backfilling the bottom 4′-5′ of the foundation wall. (Final backfill will occur once the steel columns and precast planks are installed that comprise the sanctuary floor.)
- At the same time, the masonry contractor has been installing masonry block in the lower level. Work is already completed on walls that will augment existing block walls along the nursery and office wing. Work is underway to complete a fire-rated block “box” around the first of two stairwells that lead out from the lower level. Another, longer wall will be constructed that runs east to west across the entire width of the south end (narthex) of the new sanctuary.
- The electrical contractor will continue work installing rough electrical (conduit and boxes) that is best completed before the lower level is finished.
- Weather and schedule permitting, after the underground systems are installed, gravel will be spread across the lower level in anticipation of future concrete flat work. The concrete will be poured in August after the last remaining section of foundation wall is poured (northeast corner, nearest office wing.)
