What’s New This Week? 07-01-22 to 07-15-22

What's Happening July 1 - 15, 2022?

Landscaping Work Well Underway. Construction Fence is Coming Down.

Major work continues around the Redeemer exterior:

  • All outdoor hard surfaces have been completed, including sidewalks and retaining walls.  The paver floor in the columbarium will be completed in early July as part of the landscaping work.
  • The landscape crew started their work at the end of June and should conclude in early July.  Trees are being planted along the east driveway, in front of the office wing and in & around the columbarium.  Shrubs and ground cover are being planted around the perimeter of the sanctuary and columbarium.  Flowers will be planted around the front sign on Maple Rd. and inside the columbarium.
  • The irrigation system is already being reinstalled to fit the new plantings and grass areas and will be complete in early July.  Some sod will be laid, but mostly seed.  Irrigation will be important in either situation given the expected mid summer temperatures.
  • Other than the paver floor, the columbarium is complete, including the brass statuette of Jesus that sits prominently atop the center island.  Other adjacent work is also complete, including the veteran’s memorial plaque and the pet columbarium.  Stone and metal memorial benches will be reset in the early part of July.  All-new lamp posts will also be installed along the sidewalks and circle driveway.
  • Exterior painting will continu after the holiday weekend on the front porch, music wing porch and around the trim at the sanctuary roof line.
  • Much needed and long overdue repairs will be made to the chapel cupola and porch columns in early July as an owner add-on project.
  • Finally, the construction fence will be removed in early July, which will provide Redeemer members and the entire community their first good look at the new sanctuary and grounds in sixteen months!

Inside the church, the lower-level spaces (six classrooms, fellowship hall, bathrooms, bridal lounge, etc.) are now complete.

  • The focus has shifted to completing a punch list closeout for these lower level rooms and operationalizing the new spaces (everything from toilet paper to trash cans to Wi-Fi connectivity.)
  • These spaces passed their first, albeit preliminary test the week of June 20-24 when hundreds of Vacation Bible School campers occupied four of the six classrooms and the new fellowship hall which served as the VBS craft room.

On the main level there is also a limited amount of work remaining:

  • There is also a punch list closeout for the main floor, which includes tweaks to handrails, paint touchups, and many other small items noted by the owner, architect and construction manager.
  • Fire suppression added to existing areas that were not covered in Sacred Space phase I will be completed in early July.  These areas include the chapel, the Great Room and the kitchen.  This work involves installing pipes and sprinkler heads in each new room, with connections to the main system.
  • New specialty lights were installed in recessed ceiling coves in the sanctuary.  These lights will enhance both in-person worship and also the quality of our digital live stream worship.  Ceiling microphones and cameras will be installed in July.
