Church Entry Porch, Narthex Windows Added

Front Exterior of New Church Teases Final Look

Work remains to install additional windows, columns, doors

The front of the new sanctuary is beginning to take shape.   Ten new wooden, narthex windows were recently installed.  In addition, the front porch is being framed and roofed.

Divided light, wooden windows have been installed on the first and second floors of the entry narthex.  These ten windows will be trimmed and painted at a later date.  The six large windows in the sanctuary will be installed the week of January 31 to February 4.

Rough framing of the front porch is complete and the roof has been constructed.  The steel beam that members signed last fall is now completely encased in the frame structure.  The four colonial porch columns, already on site, will be installed next month.

To complete the exterior, several tasks remain:

  • White aluminum trim will be installed on all the exposed wood fascia boards; white aluminum gutters and downspouts will also be installed,
  • The entire brick exterior will be cleaned by the masons when a week of weather allows this activity to be completed,
  • Exterior cladding will be applied to the side and front gables.  This white siding is known as EIFS, or exterior insulation and finish system,
  • The steeple, which is being fabricated off-site, in Kentucky, will be installed in late March, and finally,
  • The front doors will be installed later in the project, when it is safe to do so.
